Julius Rosenwald, son of an immigrant peddler, didn’t finish high school but rose to become  President of Sears, Roebuck & Co. Influenced by the writings of the educator Booker T.  Washington, this Jewish philanthropist joined  forces with African-American communities during the Jim Crow era to build 5,400 schools in the segregated American South. Speaker: Aviva Kempner, Filmmaker, via Skype. Prior to film: Remarks by Mary Edmond, a Rosenwald school alumnus, with Chana Edmond-Verley.
